Get Rid of Paper Wasps

How Do Paper Wasps Get in Homes?

A paper wasp inseminated queen may seek indoors for warmth. They aren’t aggressive, so stinging is a minimal threat. Each year the queen starts a new nest and population which proves helpful since they feed on insects.

Paper Wasp Colony

Paper wasps are semi-social. The true queen lays eggs while other queens tend the colony. There is no worker class. Only inseminated females survive to hibernate each year. These wasps feed on garden pests.

Paper Wasp Species

The paper wasp includes a variety of species which are found throughout the world. This non-aggressive stinging insect is commonly mistaken for the Yellow Jacket. Their markings are either yellow/black or reddish-brown/black.

Australian Paper Wasps

The Australian paper wasp is semi-social and lives in a colony of less than twenty. Their nests are built from paper-like substances. A queen starts the colony and then focuses on egg production. Colonies only last a year.

Striped Paper Wasps

Striped paper wasps are not aggressive but are often misidentified for yellow jackets which are. They like to build nests under an overhang and have more than one queen inside. These wasps eat catepillars and other pests.
